Everybody knows that Agriculture is the main source of livelihood in rural India.Nowadays Agricultural income decreased and the many farmers stopped the activity to cultivate their lands and migrated to the near towns and cities to find their livelihood.

The main reason is that the cost of cultivation of any crop increased likewise cost of seed, fertilizers, agriculture implements, labour, pesticides etc. and there are not bearable by the small and marginal farmers.

To minimize the cost low cost techniques are injected to the farmers in the regular visits and meetings and orientation camps. The Chairman of SRDS being hailed from middle class family has gone through lot of trainings and developmented enormous knowledge in The field of Agriculture through AME foundation, an NGO.

His resource services are utilized. and Field visits are conducted with some farmers where the farmers gained innovative methods in Agriculture. Farmer groups are formed by SRDS and in each group leaders are selected with capable qualities. They to diffuse the knowledge which they earned in the trainings and meetings to the other farmers. The following table shows the major crops of the area, problems faced by the farmers and the suggestions provided by the generous farmer friend the Chairman who well known the problem faced by the farmer

Problems facing the local farmers:- Decreasing the yield of groundnut year by year Germination of seed also decreasing Pest and diseases of paddy cases low yield Sugarcane yield minimized due lack of water scarcity Vegetable crops decreased due to regular attack of pests

Suggestions provided for their solution:-

Organic fertilizers introduced in the place of costly chemical manures. Seed treatment measures implemented in selection, cleaning and other methods of application of Jeevamrutham etc. Quality seed supplied in coordination of like mindeds NGOs cooperation. Pest control methods applied in application different leaves decoction SRI paddy cultivation developed DRIP system in sugarcane irrigation introduced with Govt. Subsidiary Scheme Intercrops, Boarder crops cultivated in vegetable crops to minimize pest problem. Impact Little increase in yield with organic system and low investment process minimized the cost of production. Density of plants increased with regular intraction of farmerin seed treatment. An impression cause in mind of farmer to avoid high cost chemical fertilizer

Integrated Rural Development Programme, IRDP

Anti poverty programme implemented in the Chittoor District. The objective of the programme is to assist the poor families in urral areas in obtaining supplementary in come by providing assets and thereby making them to cross the poverty line once for all. The target groups include small farmers, marginal farmers, agricultural labourers, non agricultural labourers and rural artisans who annual income is than Rs.18000/- safeguards are provided for schedule castes, schedule tribes, physically handicapped and women in terms of physical and financial targets in the total beneficiaries. SRDS identified the beneficiaries in the working area of the organization and the list submitted the development officer and encouraged the leaders to assist the beneficiaries for sanction of loan in coordination of Bank and concerned officers.

Sanitation and watershed programme:

Watershed development programme has been implemented in the district since 1994-95 in the area of drought prone area programme. The principal objective of the programme is to restore ecological balance through an integrated development on watershed basis with a view to insulting drought prone areas from the effects of recurring droughts. The watershed programme has four components, viz. soil and moisture conservation, water harvesting structures and minor irrigation works, afforestation and social forestry and other related items such as horticulture sericulture, biogas, dairy etc. Apart from contributing to land development and agriculture the watersheds are expected to generate additional employment opportuninites directly and indirectly for the poor and contribute to poverty alleviation. SRDS awared the people in the working about the benefits under this programme through village meetings and made sincere efforts to gain the benefits from this scheme to the people of the SRDS working area. Employment and as well as asset formation to the poor for sustainable development gained through this scheme.

Sanitation

A major activity of SRDS in this year to avail the sanction of Lavatries and bath rooms in the villages to more than 500 beneficiaries in the working villages with contribution of labour of the beneficiaries with rice and cash payment. People feel this will be the one of the useful programme of the Govt and this helps especially women and girl child not to walk a lot of distance for their early hour duties.

SHG TRAINING PROGRAMME:

Women in general, and the poor women in particular constitute our important disadvantaged group suffering from the double burden of being poor and women. As women, they are subject to two types of discrimination in labour market namely payment of low wages and increasing employment in petty production. At home women contribute to non wage labour by collecting fuel rearing domestic animals raising vegetable etc. In addition to routine house hold waste. The low level of literacy among women these groups and poor awanresses and orgnaising among then much more vulnerable to poverty unemployment and gender based discrimination. So SRDS worked hard in collecting data of the women and their family particular in working area with format to know the actual position to plan the programme by forcing them into self help groups and merged some to the already formed DWACRA Groups.

Environment Programme:

Our society has been carrying out program to promote environment and sanitation conditions to preserve the local ecological system. Tree plantation was implemented in the working villages of SRDS in Rompicherla and Chinnagottigallu Mandals. In addition to aware the public rally and competition test conducted in the Mandal Primary and upper primary school children carrying plycards to save Environment like plant of plenty plants, clean the surroundings, not store waste water and solid waste near hoiuses, use Biogas instead of forest wood etc.

Adult Literacy Programme:

The Govt. of India as well as the State Govt. and Union Territories shows the literacy level increased by showing percentages upto 70% taking the account that an adult became literate simply learning that the adult able to sign his name instead of left thumb impression. But SRDS with efficient scholar survey in area revealed that most of the adult even don’t know the alphabets or not able to read the small sentences. To improve their learning ability in writing, reading and teach the other to learn training camps are conducted at the village, panchayath and Mandal level.

matter to the government in different ways but they did not get minimum rates.
Cost of the almost agricultural commodities varies from day to day. There is no constant
prices like other products. So; SRDS awared the problem discussing with farmers and
introduced the proposal of ‘0’ budget agriculture. The only solution is to spend less and less and
gain more and more. Preparation and use of vermi compost, natural manures and pests avail in
nature, using the newly inventory method of Jeevamurtham, leaf decoctions to spray, green
manure etc. neem oils, neem cake are some of efforts made got good results in applying them.

degradable articles increases like plastic. Increase of population also need to invent new
methods to feed crores of people. So, now it is necessary to save the earth and to feel
everybody as theirs duty to protect environment.

husbands when they demand equal decision power in family matters.
